As Nigerians in Diaspora we are familiar with healthcare inadequacies back home, ranging from zero to minimal or at best limited access to healthcare facilities, as well as poor healthcare services and poor medical records in majority of our communities. The consequences of these problems range from often preventable illness, disease burden and poverty to ultimately untimely death. The issue of poor access to healthcare similarly affects the rest of Africa as well as most countries in the world today.
Living and working in Western countries forces one to acknowledge that the provision of better healthcare access, documentation and services certainly positively impacts quality of life, socioeconomic status and individuals' ability to self actualize.
The emergence of technology that allows electronic access to healthcare services has significantly cut down the processes needed to improve access to healthcare.' Our team, made up of doctors, IT engineers, project managers and myriad professionals, came together with a common mindset(goal) to tackle this issue.
We have thus allied companies and organizations to combine an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Telehealth systems with change units called Portable Health Intervention Teams (PHIT), to power the non governmental organization HealthShift Drive International, and achieve this goal. This trifecta provides the technological product(EHR/Teleheath) and the management expertise(PHIT) to power the human resource capital (HSD) that will drive exponential access to healthcare services deeply and broadly into the communities where >75% of our populace resides and where access is sadly most lacking.
Please join us in this exciting and worthy but most importantly desperately needed effort to drive poor access to healthcare into a distant spot in our rearview mirrors.
In best health.
From all of us @ HSDi.
